The Fox Model 920 contrabassoon is an exquisite, pro-ready, high-performance contrabassoon, favored by high-level professional contrabassoons all over the world.

Based on the Model 900, it features the use of specially processed mountain maple for the body, which enhances the sound and performance qualities of the instrument. It also includes the divorced low E mechanism as a standard feature. Removable inner U-tubes, full German key system with silver plating, right little finger F and Ab rollers, left little finger Eb and Db rollers, alternate right little finger F♯ and right forefinger Eb, water key on tuning slide. Comes with two Fox contrabassoon bocals, premium aluminum shell case, custom made for Fox contrabassoons, two Fox contrabassoon reeds, end pin, fingering charts.

We special order and sell all our Fox contrabassoons with our uniquely developed, added key work combination. That is above and beyond what Fox puts on all their standard contrabassoons and with those keys added, it brings the cost to $46,761. The standard price shown on this listing ($45,680) does not include the extra key work.

Specifically, we add: 

• Rollers from C to E-flat on the left ring finger
• Alternate touch E-flat for the right thumb (in addition to the standard right index finger E-flat, which ours also have)
• Alternate touch C-sharp for the left thumb, next to the top octave vent key

You are welcome to order a different configuration (or the standard configuration) - that would just need to be stated with at least 6-8 months lead time.
