This is a used Red Maple Fox Model 680 bassoon made in 2017. This bassoon is in excellent playing condition and like new cosmetic condition. There are a few very, very small nicks here and there, as to be expected.
This bassoon was hand selected in 2017 when the current owner visited the Fox factory with his then bassoon professor (from Michigan) to select a brand new, professional bassoon. He play tested many bassoons and selected this one as the very best one at the factory! This bassoon had been made with specific, very desirable keywork: the double high E / high F configuration, alternate E-flat trill key with offset C-sharp trill configuration on the boot joint, and A-flat / B-flat trill key on the boot as well.
The model 680 bassoon has undergone various changes over the years and in our opinion, there is variance from instrument to instrument, perhaps even more noticeable than for other models. In our opinion, this Red Maple 680 is an exceptional specimen. It has a lovely core of tone, it has great air capacity with exceptional dynamic contrast, and it is exceptionally responsive The scale is very even, in the middle range, the low range, and in the upper range, and it blends incredibly well throughout all ranges, too.
Featuring a compact cut design, it seals like factory brand new, and it maintained by the acclaimed repair person, Jimmy Keys.
This bassoon currently has two specially paired Heckel bocal with it and it is in a used Fox compact hard case with case cover.
